Christy Haller, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Dr. Christy Haller serves as Exeter Township School District's superintendent. Dr. Haller, who has worked in the district for nearly 15 years, previously served as the district’s Director of Human Resources. Prior to her role in central administration, she led Owatin Creek Elementary as its principal for a year and Lorane Elementary as its principal for eight years, leading Lorane to a Title I Distinguished Schools Award. She first came to Exeter schools in 2008 as the assistant principal at Reiffton School. Before becoming an administrator in Exeter, Dr. Haller served as an elementary and middle school teacher and a reading coach and administrator in the Reading School District for 11 years.
Dr. Haller earned her doctorate in Educational Leadership and her Letter of Eligibility from Immaculata University, and her master’s and principal certification from Alvernia University, where she received the Founding Dean’s Award. She completed her undergraduate work in education at Kutztown University. Dr. Haller also serves on the board of the Exeter Community Education Foundation and is a former Exeter Community Library Board Trustee.
In addition to working in Exeter Township, Dr. Haller has lived in the township for more than 20 years and has three children: Riley and Jacob, who both recently graduated from Exeter, and Maggie, who goes to school at Owatin Creek. She is married to Dr. Christian Haller, an Exeter graduate and principal at Octorara Intermediate School.
The Board of School Directors completed an annual evaluation of the Superintendent's performance during the 2023-24 school year. The Board found the Superintendent met the 2023-24 evaluation goals at the proficient level for the school year.
Dawn Harris
Assistant Superintendent
Mrs. Dawn Harris serves as Exeter Township School District's Assistant Superintendent of Student Services. Mrs. Harris previously worked as Exeter's Director of Pupil Services. As Assistant Superintendent, Harris continues with the leadership of Pupil Services, and now supervises additional staff, is responsible for additional duties, and serves as the acting superintendent if Dr. Haller is unavailable.
Mrs. Harris has been an educator since 1997, most recently working as the Director of Pupil Services for the Schuylkill Valley School District before coming to Exeter in 2020. Throughout her 25 year career, she's managed or led instruction for students in special education at schools in Berks and Chester County. In Exeter, she oversees and manages staff and programming for special education and gifted education, as well as health, safety, school counseling and enrollment services. She also researches and writes grants, policies, curriculum and assists with the daily operations and leadership of the school district.
She earned her undergraduate degree in Early Childhood and Special Education from Lock Haven University, her master's degree in Educational Leadership from Alvernia University, her Special Education Supervisor certification from Penn State University and her Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from California University of Pennsylvania. Mrs. Harris has two grown children and lives in Berks County with her husband, Todd, who works in law enforcement, and her three dogs.
