Attendance Emails

Email excuses can be sent from a parent's email address on file in their child's Skyward account. We ask that you do not send an email when your child is tardy or when you need to pick your child up early from school. Please click on your child’s school below to be redirected to the appropriate email address to submit your excuse.

Educational Trip Requests

To request an approved absence for a trip, please click on the button below to complete the form in ParentSquare at least five days prior to the first day of the trip. Your request will be approved based upon the educational nature of the trip, your child's attendance record and teacher recommendations. No more than five days per school year can be requested without seeking approval from the Superintendent. Students are required to make up class work, assignments and tests.

  • Date(s) of absence
  • Reason for absence
  • Your signature (if a written excuse is sent)

Compulsory attendance laws require school-aged children to attend school every day that school is in session. Besides illness (see below), upon written request from a parent or guardian, students may be excused from school for the following reasons:

  • Recovery or illness from an accident
  • Attending a health care or therapy appointment
  • Family emergency
  • Quarantine
  • Required court appearance
  • Death in the family
  • Participation in a non-school-sponsored educational trip
  • Observance of a religious holiday
  • Post-secondary or college visits (with prior approval)
  • Other urgent and reasonable reasons

If your child will be absent consecutively for three or more days, a physician's note will be required when your student returns to school.

When Should My Child Stay Home?

  • Fever of 100°F or higher
  • Persistent cough or headache
  • Eye drainage or redness
  • Unidentifiable rash
  • Vomiting or diarrhea
  • Sore throat with white patches and/or fever

If your child has any of the above symptoms for any illness or any other communicable disease, we encourage you to keep your child home from school. Children should stay home until they’re fever-free for at least 24 hours without taking fever-reducing medicine. If your child vomits or has diarrhea with illness during the night or in the morning before school, that child should be kept home for at least 24 hours from the last episode. Otherwise, healthy students are expected to be in school. This includes those exposed to but not sick with COVID in accordance with CDC guidance and the end of the Federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency.

When your child has to miss school due to illness, please excuse your child from school. If your child is absent three days consecutively, your child must present a physician's note upon return to school.

Should you have any questions, please feel free to contact your school nurse.
