ECA Week 2 Update

September 10, 2021 by etsd

IMPORTANT: Students and parents should be looking at the Calendar inside the Pearson system every day. This will show what needs to be completed and by when. After reviewing the work for this week I am seeing some students falling slightly behind and some students moving too quickly. If you still need help with this please let me know and we will meet and review this together. When you are on the calendar page I would suggest changing the view to month instead of the day so you can see what needs to be done each week. As assignments are completed they will get a check box next to each assignment. The Gradebook area also shows when each assignment is due. Please take your time and do not rush through assignments as I am seeing lower grades for students who are working too fast. If you are still struggling with what to do each day and figuring out the schedule please email me with a date and time we can meet. This is the hardest part of figuring out cyberlearning and I want to make sure everyone is comfortable with this.

Attendance: Overall, attendance entry has been good. Please remember to do this each day or you will be marked with an unexcused absence.

Math teacher Ms. Lavigne is still without power after hurricane Ida. We are working to move students to a new teacher or assign them to a temporary substitute. If students need help immediately they can jump into a one-on-one meeting with another math teacher using the live lesson button under the menu button. At the bottom of the live lesson page will be a link for Math tutoring. This is available from 9 AM-6 PM every day.

Physical materials for students in Elementary are still in transit. I was just notified that there are some on backorder, stuck in shipping. If students are struggling with this and need paper copies right away let me know and I can print copies.

If virtual students would like to get their pictures taken below are the times per building:

  • SHS: October 21st 8:00 AM -9:10 AM
  • JHS: Oct 18 730AM-9:30AM
  • Reiffton: September 23 12:35PM-1:20PM
  • Jacksonwald: October 5th (call the front office to confirm a time (610) 779-1820)
  • Owatin- October 13 (call the front office to confirm a time (610) 406-4580)
  • Lorane- September 29th (call the front office to confirm a time (610) 582-8608)

Live Lessons and Tutoring:
Some students are seeing additional live lesson meetings being added as students were having overlapping times with elective classes and were not able to attend. Students can choose which time to attend that works best for their schedule.

Some families are still getting errors when they try to enter or it looks like the meeting is not happening. You should just be taken in or possibly have to enter the student's name in the guest area. If this is still not the case try to clear the browser history. If you are still having issues please let me know right away.

Here is how to clear the cache and browser history:

  • On your computer, open Chrome.
  • At the top right, click More More.
  • Click More tools and then Clear browsing data.
  • At the top, choose a time range, select "All time".
  • Make sure the checkboxes are marked Next to "Browsing History" , "Cookies and other site data" and "Cached images and files".
  • Click "Clear data".

If you have any questions or need to catch up with me please email with a date and time that works best for you,

Thank You,
Mr. Wilchek

ECA Week 1 Update

September 3, 2021 by etsd

I hope all students and families are well after the heavy rain and flooding last night. If this was snow we would have had over 5 feet!

1. Calendar and Emergency days: I didn't think we would need to talk about this so soon but hurricane Ida proved me wrong. I hope all families are well and did not have too much damage or loss of power. I want to clarify the plan for Exeter Cyber Students and Emergency Days. I originally said that we would not follow full emergency days. After talking to some families and students I am going to revise this a bit.

  • We will follow the same FULL emergency days as all students in Exeter. If there is a FULL day off we will follow that schedule. For delays and early releases due to weather, we will not adjust the schedules and students should complete the assigned work. I will enter the dates as they happen and it will remove the work for the days off.
  • For early releases 1/2 days we will follow the schedule that is entered into Pearson. For most early release days there are two half days in a row. As everyone has a different schedule what I did was enter a full day of work for the first day and fully off for the second day.

Here is a paper copy of the year-long calendar and dates off.
District Calendar: https://www.exeter.k12.pa.us/site/handlers/filedownload.ashx?moduleinstanceid=5917&dataid=47377&FileName=2021-2022%20School%20Calendar%20Revised%204_20_21.pdf

2. Attendance Tracking: Starting next week families may start getting calls when attendance is not entered on time. I am working with each building to get this correct as some students are still listed as in person. Below are the normal attendance times unless we spoke one on one about your particular schedule.
Attendance Times Entry (Full-time students)

  • SHS and JHS: No later than 9:00 AM
  • Reiffton: No later than to 9:30AM
  • Elementary: Prior to 10:00 AM

2. Live Lessons should all be working now. There were some issues with the links that the teachers posted that were asking for everyone to log in. If you are still unable to get in or can't find the live link lesson email the teacher directly and ask for the correct link. If that still does not work email me the name of the class and/or a time we can catch up and I will make sure you get in.

3. Recorded Lesson- Similar to the live lesson issue students could not access the posted recorded lesson and some google drive documents. I worked with the teacher to update the documents and it should be resolved.

4. Labor Day Holiday: We made it four full days and have an extra-long weekend. We are off Friday, September 3, and Monday, September 6. School will resume on Tuesday, September 7th.

That is a lot of information,

Keep up the great work and enjoy the long weekend,
Mr. Wilchek
