The following businesses are proud partners and supporters of Exeter interns and provide opportunities for students to learn and earn credit as they work. If you are interested in acquiring an internship in a field or business that's not listed, contact Mr. Mark Ricketts for help.

Animal Welfare/Veterinary Services
  • Humane Society of Berks County
    There are three opportunities here:
    1. Veterinary: 3 or 4 positions (dependent on overall participation by position);
    2. Animal Welfare/Animal Rescue: 3 or 4 positions (dependant on overall participation by position)
    3. PR/Media/Fundraising/Events: You will either work with the PR department, veterinaries or in the animal welfare department.

Students interested in this internship must be willing to interact with injured and sick animals and their owners as well as be prepared for the negative aspects of trying to help sick or dying animals. The director has stated that they will guarantee a position for a well-qualified intern with them after graduation or help place you at a local veterinary office to become a vet tech.

Accounting/Finance/Business

    Work along with the director and help in various ways with their bookkeeping and finances.
  • H&R Block
    This internship would be for someone interested in accounting or becoming a CPA. You must be 18 at the time of application for this internship and have applied and been hired as a receptionist at least a month before you start the internship for Exeter. They will then train you to help with taxes. This internship is best done in the spring semester. This is a paid internship because you will already be working there. Done in Sinking Spring location.

    Not just lawn mowing and digging holes. This site is perfect for those interested in Business and Management. Great placement if you enjoy being outside.

    Learn business operations within this senior community.
  • Edward Jones - Brett Diamond Financial Planner
    Intern with a financial advisor. This internship is for anyone looking to enter the financial field.
  • Ameriprise - Financial Planning
    Must be 18. This internship is perfect for students interested in the field of financial planning or finance. Crossroads Advisors group is a financial planning company through Ameriprise.
Arts/Dance
  • Opus One (Berks Chamber Choir Ensemble)
    Perfect internship for any vocal musician. Tasks could include:
    • Attending scheduled meetings (directors/board/committees, etc.)
    • Marketing/social media/fundraising/advancement
    • Participant services - logistical efforts (scheduling, filing, organization of materials, distribution of materials, etc)
    • Assisting with production efforts
  • Aftershock Dance Studio
    This internship is for someone who would like to teach dance, own a dance studio, or become a professional dancer. You need experience in dance to apply.
Athletic Director/Trainer/Fitness or Personal Trainer
  • Exeter Township School District Athletic Office
    Learn what it takes to be an athletic director both before and during events. It's more than just fun and games, but it is a great placement for someone who has a flexible after-school schedule. Some of the internship hours are done after school, trading the time for your scheduled internship time during the school day some days.
  • Exeter Township Athletic Trainer
    Learn from the best as you assist our athletes. Only one position available per semester. Intern with our very own athletic trainer, Audrey Dickman, in the training room and during athletic events. This internship must be scheduled for period 7/8. The best candidate will be available at least one evening or afternoon after school. Work on basic care, pain management, record keeping, etc.
  • Exeter Fitness
    You will match up with one or more personal trainers at Exeter Fitness and Training, work with clients and help create customized workout plans and goals.
Audiology (Hearing)

    Work with an audiologist. They offer comprehensive hearing and tinnitus evaluations and the latest hearing aid technology and tinnitus treatments. Their audiologists are Board Certified Doctors of Audiology, providing the best possible hearing healthcare. Chiropractor/Acupuncture/Massage Therapy

    Learn about being a chiropractor. Good for anyone looking into a medical field.
  • Tri-County Chiropractic of Douglassville
    This internship is for students interested in the medical field. The two main internship opportunities here are to work in the medical office for office work and being a chiropractor assistant and gain insight in chiropractics, physical therapy and massage therapy. This could work for anyone interested in a medical field. They will do summer internships.

    An option for those interested in hair styling, skin care or someday owning their own salon. Those attending BCTC in the morning can use internship time to count towards their certification hours. Those who don't attend BCTC can be a salon assistant and help around the salon but not cut hair.
Culinary/Hospitality

    Perfect internship for those who would like to someday manage a restaurant or work as a line cook or server.
  • Rittenhouse Village of Muhlenberg Restaurant
    This internship could be for anyone interested serving, cooking or restaurant management. Students who intern here must be comfortable in interacting with the elderly who can be demanding at times. You can work in the restaurant planning, making, serving and cleaning up meals. All day time slots are available.
Dental/Orthodontics

    Learn all aspects of working in an orthodontist practice while in a great learning environment at one of the top practices in the area. This would be appropriate for those who would like to become a dentist or dental hygienist.
Early Childhood Education

    A great experience for anyone interested in early childhood education or in owning their own childcare center.
  • The Morgan School
    Learn what it takes to work at and run a pre-school. This internship is for students who love to be around, and help, young kids ages six weeks to five years old.

    An early childhood opportunity right here in Exeter. This internship would be for anyone interested in becoming an early childhood or elementary teacher as well as a daycare owner.
  • West Lawn UMC Preschool
    Their preschool classes offer free play and socialization, as well as fundamental educational teaching. The children use a variety of materials to exercise all their developmental skills: language, imaginative, cognitive, social-emotional and physical development (gross motor, fine motor), and spiritual. Sensory activities and hands-on learning materials are a part of a day at preschool.

    This summer internship would be for four weeks on Mondays through Fridays from 8AM to 4PM at Hawk Mountain Sanctuary. Perfect for a future educator, environmentalist, or someone working to conserve nature. Help prepare camp activities, go on guided hikes, gain valuable teaching experience and jump start your future career in education or conservation!
  • Exeter Township Parks & Rec Summer Playground Leader
    Become a playground leader and gain experience for elementary P.E. or classroom teacher. Count this as a summer internship.
  • Reading Public Museum
    You would work with the education department to help with tours of the museum and other related tasks.
Engineering/Manufacturing
  • American Polarizers
    This is a very competitive internship for seniors only. Applicants from many school districts interview and compete for one spot. This is the perfect internship for a motivated student who is interested in manufacturing, engineering and/or computer science. Period 7/8 is when this internship is available. They prefer students who can stay longer in the afternoon and get the hours in 3 days. American Polarizers is a business that manufactures a selection of linear and circular polarizers, optical filters and display enhancement solutions for a broad range of markets. They offer polarizers for the visible light, near IR and UV spectrum. They also offer standard and custom optic services including laser cutting, silk screening applications, optical lamination and die-cutting and machining solutions. In addition, they are globally known for polarization products and solutions used across a broad range of industries, including research, aerospace, 3D imaging, medical, machine vision, photo and more.

  • KER Custom Molding
    Great internship for someone interested in going into the manufacturing field. Perfect for both students going into the workforce after high school and for students going to college. They provide training and will direct hire after graduation.

    Great manufacturing opportunity. Learn how copper pipes are made and help in needed areas of the company.
Environmental Science/Nature Conservation
  • Hawk Mountain Sanctuary

    This internship is done outside on the grounds and fields of Exeter Township School District. Learn and be part of what it takes to keep our campuses and fields in shape and looking good. No transportation needed for this internship. Multiple spots available.
  • Newcastle Lawn & Landscape
    Not just lawn mowing and digging holes. This site is perfect for those interested in business, landscape design, sales, management, mechanics for small and diesel engines, construction, masonry, horticulture, lawn mowing and/or planting various trees and bushes. Great placement if you enjoy being outside.
 
Graphic & Web Design/Marketing, PR & Social Media
  • Rubi and Lib Design Studio
    Help as they create custom designs for personalized gifts, menus, and event products such as weddings, birthdays, and anniversaries.
  • FXV Digital Design
    Not a graphic design focus, FXV Digital Design is a website design company in Berks County, PA that provides services including branding, SEO and website development. They also do email newsletter campaigns, social media and all sorts of digital marketing. This would be a great experience for anyone interested in website design or in marketing or social media.
  • Reading Royals
    This is a great internship site for anyone interested in sales or public relations. Join the marketing team of the Reading Royals Hockey team. This internship is best for students with the ability to do some of their internship hours at night before and during games in-season. The hockey season runs from October to May. Interns will be exposed to sales, ticketing, guest relations and promotions set up for before and during the games in season. Out-of-season will focus on promotion and sales.

    Intern at our Exeter Community Library as you learn the jobs and tasks needed to run and maintain a community library. Perfect for any student who is interested in being a librarian or running a community organization.

    Intern at one of the school district's libraries. 
Logistics & Transportation
  • Fraser Advanced Information Systems
    Work in the warehouse learning logistics of shipping and receiving.
Maintenance/Mechanic
  • Fraser Advanced Information Systems
    Refurbishing used equipment for resale and setting up new equipment. Make sure all paperwork is complete and neat for each finished product. Receive and remove all packing material, install various options, add toner and developer. Test and adjust equipment to obtain the best copy quality. Troubleshoot and correct problems when necessary. Program machine with all connectivity info and confirm setting and functionality. Learn to rebuild used Sharp and Canon copiers and multifunctional equipment to manufacturers' specifications and Fraser’s guidelines. Thoroughly test all equipment and have this equipment tested by a supervisor before it is wrapped for shipment. Complete required paperwork and prepare equipment for delivery to the customer.

Medical/Health Care
  • Western Berks Ambulance Association
    18-year-olds should apply. Students interested in emergency medicine, becoming an EMT, paramedic, or interested in working on an ambulance should sign up for this internship. interns ride along in the ambulance and observe how to treat and take care of patients. Interns will learn how the equipment is used and what it is used for. As the intern has more ride time, the crew may allow them to do different skills and help in patient care. They allow the interns to help with whatever they are comfortable with. Cover everything from ambulance transports to 911 calls.
  • Rittenhouse Village at Muhlenberg
    This internship could be for anyone interested in senior care. Students who intern here must be comfortable in interacting with the elderly who can be demanding at times. You can work with a nurse, learning all aspects of medical care, help residents around and monitor their progress while caring for elderly members of our society and making their lives better. All day time slots are available.
  • Spine & Wellness Center - Dr. Harold Einsig
    Good spot for anyone interested into going into the field of pain management.

    Nursing-related position or personal care assistants. Must be 18 for personal care.
  • Penn State Health St. Joseph Medical Center 
    Must be 18, 3.5 GPA, vaccinated and interview for the position. Only one position is available. Very competitive. 1 North is a medical/surgical unit and has the lowest patient acuity levels. Patients may be recovering after an orthopedic surgery, from mild stroke, etc. Interns there function as a type of liaison between the medical staff and the patients. After training, they respond to call bells and assist as qualified, they interact with patients, provide necessary items and communicate with staff if the request is not something they are able to handle. Interns NEVER go into isolation rooms of any kind, and are not allowed to intern in Covid areas. Interns also train with the transport team in order to be able to discharge ambulatory patients discharged to home by transporting patients in wheelchairs. 2 North is a step down unit for heart patients and has a higher patient acuity level. Interns do the same duties on this unit as on 1 North. Once you are a functioning part of the team, you can request to shadow a staff member. You must be very active.
