The Exeter Township School District is committed to provide transparent, accurate, timely and trustworthy communication during emergencies. This communication will come to families through the district's ParentSquare communication system as quickly as possible. Families should regularly check Skyward to ensure their contact information and emergency contact information is up-to-date so that we may get in touch with you during unexpected events. To update your information, please log into Skyward or contact your school secretary.
Here's what you can expect during an event:
- If the police and/or fire department is called to a building for an emergency (not involving a single or small group of students), the district will notify you. For example, you will be notified if the whole building is evacuated due to a fire alarm; you will not be notified if a student has a seizure in an empty hallway that no other students witnessed.
- You will be notified as quickly as possible once we have gathered accurate information. Our initial message to you will contain as much information as we are able to give you at that time, including any post-emergency information, such as altered dismissal times, transportation delays, lunch disruptions, canceled after-school athletics/activities, etc. If those plans are still being determined at the time the message is being drafted, we will send a follow-up message with those details as quickly as possible.
- Communication may be reviewed by law enforcement, witnesses and lawyers to ensure it complies with privacy laws and does not hinder an active investigation.
Please understand that our information may not:
- Contain staff or student names, information or outcomes, unless permitted/applicable to the situation. We adhere to confidentiality and privacy laws that govern workplaces and schools.
- Include details of our safety plans, which are protected by privacy laws for good reason.
- Come to you immediately. While we absolutely work as quickly as possible, it may take us a little time to verify information before it is released to you. We respect and understand that you want information as quickly as possible, and we will always do our best to get it to you as quickly as we can while giving you the most accurate information at that time.
