Families will be notified of an emergency through the district's ParentSquare system. If you do not receive ParentSquare messages, you may have incorrect or outdated contact on file in the district. Please contact your child's school secretary to update your information.
Information about the incident may also be shared on our website, time permitting. In most cases, information will not be posted to social media.
As parents, we understand that you may want to immediately come to the school to pick up your child(ren) if there's an emergency. However, please understand that reunification with your child(ren) may take time depending upon the incident, and families rushing to the school may impact the important work of emergency responders. The district will provide reunification information to parents through ParentSquare as quickly as possible. Please wait for these detailed instructions.
Please make sure you have a photo ID. We will check IDs to ensure that children are going home with their parents or guardians.
If you are unable to pick up your child, the adults who have been designated by you as an emergency contact in Skyward are permitted to pick up your child. Please make sure an emergency contact is prepared with a photo ID when he/she arrives at the school.
Please stay calm, especially if you are able to text or call your child. Encourage your child to listen to instructions from school staff and remind your child that school staff is there to help protect and keep him or her safe.
The district believes it's important to notify parents when we conduct safety drills. When you receive these notifications, spend some time talking to your child about the drill. Discuss the importance of these drills for their safety and the safety of others around them. It is understandable and normal for these drills to stir up emotions for children; please talk through these feelings with your child and assure him or her that teachers, school staff and emergency responders care deeply about student safety and are there to protect students in any situation.
School safety is practiced regularly by staff, students and emergency responders. The details of these plans, however, are safeguarded by privacy laws to ensure that people who intend to do harm are not able to use them against us or other schools.
